Raster-The rectangular formation of parallel scanning lines that guide the electron beam on a television screen or a computer monitor.

Vector- A variable quantity that can be resolved into components.

Bitmap-An image represented as a two dimensional array of brightness values for pixels

Anti-Aliasing-Anti-aliasing is a process that smoothes edges during the scanning capture process so that there is a more gradual pixel change than that which is being captured. The result is the final scanned image looks like the original rather than having a sharp contrast causing jagged lines.

Short story

With my dearest friend Julia Renee Rice, we ventured into the Amazon, our mission to find and recover the diamond of hope. The diamond was so pure and rare because it came from the sea of tranquility located off of the coast of Mexico, which was home of the blue elephant, elephants. With Julia's machete of wisdom, we entered the ever forbidding darkness of the giant banana trees and the coconut palms of ripe coconuts, this became our only source of food as we are vegetarians and do not eat small children. Julia forged the pineapple key from the juice of a liquid nitrogen tree. we used the device to enter the portal of confusion that would lead us to the holy diamond of hope, thats pretty holy. unfortunately since Julia has the machete...i became confused and she was forced to make me a fluffy penguin, which somehow would help me. Thankfully the keepers of the diamond of hope, were morbidly fearful of my fluffy penguinness, so they being polar bears jumped into the frozen water and hid from mah penguin powers. During this time Julia recovered the diamond of hope, and we kept it on our house boat and lived happily ever after. the end, or until next time...

History of the internet

Sources i used:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_internet
http://www.isoc.org/internet/history/
http://www.davesite.com/webstation/net-history.shtml

1962-J.C.R licktenhelder-appointed head of DARPA a defense system run by the government. While working with this program J.C.R concluded that in order to make our country secure a interconnection system would have to be used.

1969-The Internet then known as ARPANET went live.

1972-The first e-mail by Ray Tomlinson of BBN.
The (ARPA) was renamed The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (or DARPA)
ARPANET was currently using the Network Control Protocol to transfer data. This allowed communications between hosts.

1974-Term "internet" was dubbed by two French engineers.

1976- Dr. Robert M. Metcalfe creates enternet, a way to communicate with other companies across the country.

1979- The creation of BITNET, by IBM, Because its Time Network introduced the "store and forward" network. It was used for emails.

1983- Internet activity board (IAB for short) was created.

1986-The internet engineering task force (IETF) created to serve as forum for DARPA working on ARPANET, US defense data network (DDN), and the Internet core gateway system.

1992- internet society created. This was a group of people that would discuss the internet. Internet upgraded to T3 which is much faster than T32.

1994- World wide web Aka WWW. was created. Also companies like pizza hut started to make it able for people to order pizza via internet website.

1995- Web hosting site for regular people cost $50 a year excluding .edu and .gov domains which are run by the goverment.

What has changed?

because Barack Obama is now president a lot of things will change i think. First off, I believe people will become less ignorant of what a black man can do. I hope that happens in the deep south where racism is still very real. Secondly i think our finical crisis will soon end. Unlike bush he does not make acts that he can do anything he wants without having to go through congress like the patriot act. Overall i think Barack will be a great improvement to our country. Also Joe Biden is also a very good man and is qualified to be vice president and god forbid president.

In the next four years i will follow the news closer and will be more politically active. Since i will be 19 in four years i will have the power to vote about what i think should happen in this country. I believe in change because right now we need change. Our economy is in turmoil people are getting their jobs outsourced and worse. I hope that will all change in the next 4 years and i want to be apart of that change in anyway i can.

Wiki

Wikipedia: friend or foe?

Nick guild

Wikipedia is an online source for just about anything, in fact if you looked up powdered doughnut most likely there would be an entire 3 pages about the manufacturing of the doughnuts, the absence of nutritional value and the most powdered doughnuts eaten in a minute. (Which is held by big black). I constantly use it for school resources for all types of homework, English for essay research, chemistry for formulas for equations and balance of elements. The information is quite reliable for what I am using for school needs. There are a lot of other sites listed on Wikipeada if you cannot find what you are searching for. Personally I think it behooves you to use it as a source because even though the information is user inputted and besides it looked at by the wikipeada community before it can even be published on the web site. When teachers say do not use wikipeada for your sources I really do not see what the purpose of not using it is. Compared to other research sites it is equal if not more informative.

Wikipeada is in more than 10 languages and is constantly updated to make sure the information is always helpful in the way the reader would like it to be. And besides I do not see why anyone would submit false information about a certain element and its characteristics, to be honest the amount of time that would take for the person to do that is astronomical. And besides it requires the entire Wikipeada to be convinced that it is correct information. So really for school related activities I highly doubt any of it is false.

On the other hand that says Wiki is misleading about certain things that’s arguably true. For certain people and things people have changed information about the true meaning or what really happened for own personal gain or to put something or someone down. For example Sony entertainment systems filed a false report about Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and halo 3. They said that Microsoft was pirating technology from other companies to help in the creation of halo 3. This was proven wrong immediately and Microsoft counter sued Sony. They also ripped up on Microsoft saying that Halo 3 would be a disappointment and the graphics would not improve from the Xbox’s Halo 2. This was also proved false when it was launched; in the first week Halo 3 the game sold over 15 million copies worldwide.

Although Wiki could be wrong in certain cases. Like about Paris Hilton for example a lot of the information on her would be wrong because I am sure people would pay big money to miss inform people about Paris Hilton because she would get crap for it and bring her down and put other people above her. So in that sense I am sure some stuff on Wiki is wrong and misleading but on a whole I think its good information.

I would defend Wiki if it was under siege and on that note I will continue to use it as source for school on all topics.

your blog window

My account- my account lets me edit my settings, control my posting and see how many postings i currently have, what blogs i am following, start a new post look at my comments. And i can Set up my layout which is a personal display that shows up when i look at my blog.

Visit site- the view blog button takes me directly to my recent blog postings. I can also click the bottom of the blog to go to earlier posts that were not able to fit on the first page.

tabs-my tabs let me organize my blog work on what goes where, add images to my blog that i can off the internet on Google. Create lets me obviously create a new post.

Write tab-post is when your done making your post. Write is the action of writing the post in the first place. and the link option lets me link a website address into my blog for a reference to something i was talking about.

Blog-a blog is a site that is your own that you post information and stories on for others to see and write feedback about what you said.

Permalink- a permalink is a permanent link. the use of a perment link is quite interesting.
When you use a web address (link) to use as reference to a website the website does not always exist. after a while the website might change get deleted or the thing that your linking to may no longer exist in the first place. so the permalink saves it so that even if the link is no longer valid that it will still get you to the address that was originally used to make your point.

Quiz- Everything in the class is subject to a quiz, so yeah its gonna happen.

Media Options- there are three signs for media options, there is add photo which adds a photo to your blog post. Add video actully adds video...like a youtube link for example or google video.

Adding media- Its a bunch of codes that you use when you add media from the coded media you use in the first place.

HTML tab- on blogger it didn't show anything to be honest, all that happened was the font changed a little more crude computer type...

Buttons-There are 3 buttons the first one is for Add Photo which is what it says when you drop it down. this is for adding a photo. the second one is for Adding Film or video, thats what it says on the tab button that you press, its for adding video from a website link. The 3rd is a eraser which says remove format from the picture/video. which i guess it just removes the media junk.

Greyed out buttons- those are buttons that you cannot use which is inferred from your blog post in the first place. those buttons you cannot use because either they wouldn't do anything with what your currently working on or they are not usable with the current work your doing so they are a waste of paying attention to them.

Tag- a tag is a label that you use to help your blog reader better understand what your witting about in the first place. so they can actually get to what they want.

categories- those are even more speicific for your blog reader to understand what your writting about and direct them to the point of the arttical.
